Welcome to the Safety Media Blog!

My name is Julian Roberts and I am the Manging Director of Safety Media and have worked here since the company began in 1995.

In the 13 years that I’ve been in the industry, I’ve seen training develop and change in ways that would never have been imagined when Safety Media first started. The expectations of the workforce for the quality levels of training are now far higher than they’ve ever been before. With sophisticated computer games and highly interactive websites available in everyone’s homes, the level of expectation for training delivery has moved into a new era. It is no longer acceptable (as it should never have been!) to train using old videos with stuttering actors, flared trousers and platform shoes. The modern workforce now demands a dynamic , interesting, involving, fulfilling and enriching training experience. This can be achieved by using a blended approach to training, integrating together high quality training materials such as highly polished DVD productions, interactive animated E-Learning content and online/on demand video training ensuring that the interest of the workforce is not only maintained but because of the absorbing content the level of retention is significantly increased.

The intention of this blog is to bring regular, interesting and thought provoking suggestions and innovations that you can integrate into your training programme. I’ll be updating the blog weekly and would welcome any suggestions, comments or ideas on future blog content.

I hope you enjoy the blog and find something of value that you can take away.

Happy training.

Take care and keep safe.

Julian

  1. Well said, I’m currently working for a company offering PPE and wiring services with arc flashes in mind. But I read a bit of info the other day that showed that in America 5 to 10 injuries happen every day! from arc flashes.

And many of the victims had no idea of the dangers involved in their line of work. When you look at it from a risk is chance vs magnitude perspective, up to 10 accidents a day, with an explosion that could in some cases reach near 20,000 celcius doesn’t seem acceptable.

Hope I can get some good ideas from your site as to how to help people understand the risks.
