NEW Energy Efficiency E-Learning Courses from Safety Media
Written By Helen Griffiths | Dec 8th, 2009 | | | Category: Featured ArticlesSafety Media Ltd is delighted to announce the launch of two new E-Learning courses based around Energy Efficiency in the workplace.
With one course aimed at all staff and the other aimed at managers, the whole workforce is covered. The aim of the courses is to help businesses save anywhere between 10% and 20% of their energy consumption costs by educating employees on simple day to day measures that can be put in place. As an example, just by turning down the thermostat by 1 degree centigrade could reduce energy costs by between 8% and 10%.
“My staff have already been through these courses” commented Julian Roberts, Managing Director of Safety Media, “and we estimate that we will save 18% on our energy costs in the next 12 months. We are all trying to save money and help the environment and this is such an easy way to get the message across”.
The release of the courses is particularly timely with the new CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) regulations coming in to place in April 2010. These regulations will apply to all businesses with annual energy consumption of 6000mwh or more that are metered half hourly – 20,000 businesses in the UK will be affected. With businesses having to purchase ‘allowances’ at £12 per ton of CO2 emitted, the cost is considerable. Julian added, “For businesses where the CRC legislation is an issue, the cost saving of implementing these courses could be significant.”
